Woman accuses stepsister of upstaging proposal: ‘I’m confused’

A woman is being accused of stealing the spotlight during her stepsister Rachel’s proposal.

She asked Reddit’s “Am I the A******? (AITA)” forum for advice. The woman was engaged to Matt in December. However, Rachel’s boyfriend Matt planned to propose at a family party on New Year’s Eve. Everyone knew the woman was engaged. She wore her engagement ring. ring Enjoy the party.

“The proposal happened and it was beautiful,” she wrote. “Everyone congratulated Rachel but it was kind of a 50/50 on people wanting to look at and compliment her ring and mine.”

Rachel and Matt were furious the next day. They accused her, accusing her of intentionally drawing attention towards herself. They told her she shouldn’t have worn her “colossally large” ring because she knew Rachel’s would look small in comparison.

Redditors didn’t think the poster did anything wrong.

“You are engaged, it is normal for you to wear your ring especially at family occasions!” a user said.

“I’m confused. Shouldn’t OP be wearing her ring all the time,” another said.

“If he feels you stole the thunder because your ring is nicer, hes completely missing the point of marriage,” a person added.
