Vikings getting healtier, activate Irv Smith Jr’s practice window

The Vikings offense has been cruising the last few weeks, and they’ve had various contributors alongside Justin Jefferson play well in KJ Osborn and TJ Hockenson. The team today announced that they may be adding another weapon to their arsenal by activating the 21-day practice window of tight end Irv Smith Jr.

Shortly after T.J. Hockenson’s trade, Smith Jr. was put on injured reserve. While most of Smith’s career has been injury-plagued, he is still a capable tight end in the NFL. With Smith getting healthy, it could be an even bigger boost for the Viking’s offense. Smith could be helped by the Vikings’ weapons as he can create separation for himself, which is something that has been a problem for him in the past.

Smith was able to catch 22 receptions totaling 168 yards and two touchdowns before sustaining a high ankle sprain in the Arizona Cardinals game.
