Trudeau: Canada is lucky to be a country of peace in Christmas note

Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, is asking Canadians for a reminder of how fortunate they are living in a “country that’s peaceful.”

The Canadian leader wishes people a Merry Christmas and looks back on the year.

“Like millions of Canadians, my family is excited to gather around the Christmas tree and spend some quality time together,” Trudeau began in his note. “It’s the time of year when things slow down a little bit, when Christmas movies — including ‘Die Hard’ — are on repeat, when some of us keep an ear out for the sound of reindeer on the roof and when we all take a moment to appreciate those who make our lives special.”

Trudeau said that he was thinking about Canadians who “go the extra mile” to make Canada a better country, including Canadian Armed Forces personnel and health-care workers. He also mentioned “everyday Canadians” who are willing to serve their communities.

He also thought about 2022 and described it as a “challenging Year” in which many will not see an “easy” holiday season.

“But I’m confident that Canadians will continue to be there for each other in 2023 — because that’s just who we are. We are there for each other. Trudeau continued, “And when times are difficult, we stand together.” “Canada has been through a lot, but they have always shown the true meanings of kindness, generosity and hope.”

The prime minister also urged Canadians — no matter their beliefs — to bring “the promise of peace and joy” as they celebrate the holidays.

“As we come together under the twinkle of Christmas lights, as we share a glass of good cheer with friends and colleagues, as we welcome the cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews we haven’t seen in so long, and as we celebrate those unique traditions that reflect Canada’s diversity, let’s remind ourselves how fortunate we are to live in a country of peace.

Canada is a country where people can be proud of their communities and live out their faith. As we look to the future, let’s keep standing together and building a better future for all Canadians.

Many Canadian ministers also shared Christmas messages on Christmas Eve.

Omar Alghabra Minister of Transport wished Canadians Merry Christmas. He also had a special note from Santa for Canadian Children.

He stated that he was honored to allow Santa and his reindeer flight crew to fly in Canadian skies this holiday season. His statement also noted that the crew had no COVID-19 symptoms prior take-off. Santa assured me that everything was in place to deliver Christmas gifts to Canadian children when I spoke with him. I’d like to wish all Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast a merry Christmas and festive holiday season.”
