Steelers LB T.J. Watt acknowledges the magnitude of Saturday’s game

Even before the news of the tragic demise of Pittsburgh Steelers legend broke, Franco Harris, this week’s game was monumental. Not only are there still postseason implications as well as Mike Tomlin’s streak of non-losing seasons, but this game also commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Immaculate Reception.

All these facts are not lost on T.J. Watt, linebacker. And Watt also understands how much more this game means to the team, the fanbase and the city after Harris’ passing. It was something he spoke about on Friday.

“This was a huge game before the news of Franco’s passing even hit, now it’s ramped up more,” Watt said. “I think we’re going to see the impact that he had on people when the fans show up and show the appreciation for all that he’s done for Steeler Nation.”

We said earlier in the week we hope the magnitude of everything that happened this week and everything on the line isn’t too much for an inconsistent team like this. This group should step up and use all the energy they have to play well.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on this game and the implications it will have for Pittsburgh.
