Star the Bulldog is the Best in Show Winner at the 2022 AKC National Championship

Meet the “Star” at the 22nd Annual AKC National Championship presented by Royal Canin.
On Monday, American Kennel Club revealed the winner in its annual canine contest. Star, the bulldog, won $50,000 and was awarded the Best in Show title.
Star — show name GCHG CH Cherokee Legend Encore — beat out over 5,300 canines to win the dog show, which took place December 17-18, 2022, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. ABC aired the 2022 AKC National Championship in a three-hour special, January 1, 2023.
Star is owned by a family from Glen Rose in Texas. He was also named “America’s National Champion” at the AKC dog show by Mr. Desmond Murphy, Best in Show judge.

Star was named Best in Group in Non-Sporting Group. Then Star went on to the Best in Show round. Six other talented dogs joined Bogart the Schnauzer as the winner of the Working Group. Trumpet the BloodhoundJosie the Spinone Italo, winner in the Hound Group; Josie, the Spinone Italiano winner in the Sporting Group; Stache, the Sealyham Terrier winner of The Terrier Group; Clark, the Havanese winner in the Toy Group and Mercedes, the German Shepherd winner, of the Herding Group.
Bogart, the Schnauzer, was the runner up at the 2022 AKC National Championship. This earned the dog the title Reserve best in show.

AKC Agility Invitational, AKC Obedience Classic and the AKC National All-Breed Puppy and Junior Stakes were all part of the two-day event.
