Stair climb, concert to benefit local first responders

This weekend, the Tall City Memorial Stair Climb & Concert will be held to commemorate the events of 9/11. Citizens of all ages are invited to come together on Saturday, September 7, to join in on the family-friendly festivities as the community comes together to remember the sacrifice made by first responders who gave their lives to protect those who couldn’t save themselves.
The event will kick off a day of remembrance and celebration for the Permian Basin, starting with a stair climb held at Astound Broadband Stadium and ending at Centennial Park with a benefit concert featuring country music star Carly Pearce.
All donations and ticket sales will benefit the Professional Firefighters Association of Midland Benevolence fund, all to support local first responders. For more information on PFAM, visit their website.
The Tall City Memorial Stair Climb will kick off on September 7 at the Astbound Stadium at 8 a.m. following check-in at 7 a.m.
Entry to join in on the stair climb is $50, which will include an event T-shirt, an event challenge coin, and admission to the benefit concert. Children 12 years old and under are free.
VIP tickets are available for $100, which includes access to a standing room only VIP section of the concert and half-priced drinks.
Participating civilians may wear the athletic attire of their choice. Firefighters, police, and EMTs are invited to bring their preferred gear along with them on the climb. Water, restrooms, and rest stations will be provided throughout the 110-flight climb.
There is no requirement to finish all 110 flights of stairs! Everyone’s participation is appreciated, regardless of how far anyone is able to climb. The timeframe for the entire climb is expected to take between 1 and 3 hours depending on participants’ athletic ability.
At 7:30 p.m., there will be a spectacular showing of live music featuring Carly Pearce at Centennial Park. The “What He Didn’t Do” singer is excited to join in on the celebration hosted by PFAM. There will also be food, drinks, and entertainment for kids. Gates open at 6:30 p.m.
The benefit concert is open to the public, whether you attended the Memorial Stair Climb or not.
