The Toronto Raptors announced Thursday that Justin Champagnie, their forward, has been released.

Champagnie (22 years old) had been with Toronto Raptors since 2021. He signed a two-way deal with the team after being undrafted in 2021 NBA Draft. In 39 games, the 6-foot-6 forward, 220-pound Champagnie averaged 2.2 points per game and 1.9 rebounds over his career with Toronto.

Brooklyn native and New Yorker, Brooklyn, was a student at the University of Pittsburgh. In 53 games, he averaged 14.7 point, 8.5 rebound, one assist, and scored a total of 14.7 points. Following his sophomore season, he was named to the First Team All-ACC and immediately declared for the NBA Draft.

Champagnie did not leave a lasting impression on Nick Nurse and his staff after he suffered an injury that started the season. His current contract would be fully guaranteed starting Jan. 1.

Toronto has some roster flexibility by waiving the second year player. The team can also sign agents free of charge on 10-day contracts starting Jan. 10.

The Raptors currently have 14 players on their roster, along with two other players.
