On Thursday, the Toronto Raptors announced that forward Justin Champagnie had been waived.

Champagnie was 22 years old and had been with the Raptors ever since 2021. After being rejected in the 2021 NBA Draft, Champagnie signed a two way contract with the club. The 6’6 forward, 220 pound forward averaged 2.2 rebounds and 2.2 points in his 39 career games with Toronto.

Brooklyn native, New York, attended the University of Pittsburgh. He averaged 14.7 points and 8.5 rebounds in 53 games with Panthers. After his sophomore season, he was selected to the First Team All-ACC. He immediately declared for NBA Draft.

Champagnie’s injury suffered in the first season did not make an impression on Nick Nurse or his staff. On Jan. 1, his current contract was fully guaranteed.

Toronto has some flexibility in its roster by waiving the second year player. The team can also sign agents free of charge on 10-day contracts starting Jan. 10.

The Raptors currently have 14 players on their roster, along with two other players.
