Reports claim that a suspect was arrested by US police in connection to the mysterious deaths of four students at Idaho State University. This happened six weeks ago.

Police identified the suspect as Bryan Christopher Kohberger (28) He was taken into custody in Pennsylvania after being located more than 2,500 miles (4.020km), from the crime scene.

On 13/11/11, the students were discovered dead in their beds in a nearby rental home.

Idaho police intend to hold a news conference later in the day on Friday.

Madison Mogen and Ethan Chapin, Kaylee Goncalves, Kaylee Goncalves, and Xana Kernodle were all found murdered in their Moscow home. They are all from northern Idaho.

Family members of the victims expressed frustration over the progress of the investigation in the weeks following their deaths.

Investigators claim that they have reviewed over 16,500 tips and 113 pieces physical evidence from crime scenes.

They also reviewed “approximately 4000 photographs” and conducted more than 250 interviews.

As they sought help from the public to find a white Hyundai Elantra vehicle that was seen nearby the house on the day of the murders, more tips came in earlier this month.

According to NBC, a vehicle that matches the description of this vehicle was recovered by police in Mr Kohberger’s arrest.

This arrest occurs on the same date as a memorial ceremony for Goncalves, Mogen at a Coeur D’Alene church, Idaho.

Post-mortem examinations revealed that the four students were probably asleep at the time they were murdered. Police cleared their roommates and the other students who found their bodies of any wrongdoing.

Moscow’s chief of police stated last week that online sleuths were spreading lies about the investigation, creating problems for police.

Captain Roger Lanier stated, “Tracking down and quelling rumours regarding specific individuals or events that may have occurred is a huge distraction to investigators and oftentimes it is the result social media propagation.”

According to police, Mr Kohberger, a state police officer and FBI agent, was taken into custody Friday near Scranton, Pennsylvania. Officials tell CBS, the BBC’s US partner, that he was arrested at his Albrightsville parents home.

They say that he will be extradited to Idaho for homicide charges.

Online records indicate that he is a graduate student in criminal justice and criminology at Washington State University.

The campus is located in Pullman, Washington and is just 10 miles from Moscow.

Moscow has 25,000 residents, including 11,000 students from universities. The Palouse is a small rural town nestled in rolling hills.

A majority of students have decided to enroll in online classes to make up the remainder of the semester following the attacks. In response, the Idaho State Police sent out patrols to ensure that the campus is safe.
