Two people are killed when Mini falls into a river on Christmas Day
Tributes have poured in for a “funny and intelligent” mum who died on Christmas Day after her Mini plunged into a river, killing a male passenger.
After the car was veered off the highway in Swansea and struck a tree, Rachel Curtis (36) and Jay Jenkins (36), were both found dead.
After being called at 3am, investigators discovered the car completely submerged in River Tawe and were able to recover the bodies.
They are asking for witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage owners, and anyone who came in contact with the couple during the hours leading up to the tragedy.
Tributes were given to Rachel, a Swansea-based charity fundraiser and self-employed nail technician, who was the driver.

In a statement, her family described her as “a funny, intelligent and unique person” who was “extremely talented and creative” in her therapeutic nail art.
They said that the mom-of-one was also a security instructor and self defense instructor, and had been trained as a supervisor of doors and close protection officers.
Rachel also contributed to the fundraising efforts for suicide prevention charity Jack Lewis Foundation and Matthews House for homelessness. She was also involved with youth projects that help young girls.
“Rachel will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her, especially her 14-year-old son,” her family added.
