Local 4 News expands their 4Warn Weather Team

Ron Hilliard Ashlee BaracyBoth hail from Metro Detroit and join the market’s most experienced forecasting team.

DETROIT, Dec. 27, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The 4Warn Weather Team on Local 4 News is exping the station’s weather coverage on all content platforms – Local 4 News on TV, ClickOnDetroit.com on the web, the 4Warn Weather app, and their streaming channel Local 4+ — with the addition of Ron Hilliard and Ashlee BaracyToday, WDIV Vice President/General Manager announced the news Bob Ellis.

Hilliard, who is a news and weather reporter at WEYI-TV in the area just above I-75, joins WDIV. Flint Saginaw areas.  Ron has a passion for meteorology that began young. He has covered all kinds of weather including snow, tornadoes, and thunderstorms. Ron has also worked in Erie, PA.He was also a finalist at the TBS Show “America’s Next Weatherman.”

Ron is a Detroiter from the core. He was raised on Detroit’s Northwest side and graduated Communication and Media Arts High School. Ron is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. He graduated from The University of Minnesota. Michigan State University and Specs School of Media Arts.

DurIng his time at MSU, Ron studied at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico For one year. He is currently enrolled at Mississippi State UniversityThere he continues his meteorology post-graduate research. Ron is thrilled to put the 4Warn Weather technology into action.

Baracy is nothing new to Southeast Michigan WDIV TV. She was born in Westland And went to school at University of Michigan Eastern Michigan University. As a Traffic Reporter, she started her TV career with Local 4. Ashlee obtained her meteorology degree at WDIV. Mississippi State University WBNS-TV, and moved in Columbus, Ohio Seven years ago, her work earned her the title of the station’s first female Chief meteorologist. She won an Emmy award during her tenure and tirelessly encouraged young women into science, technology engineering and mathematics. She has covered every kind of weather, and she recognizes her responsibility as a meteorologist for providing the first line communication to the people. Southeast Michigan.

Ashlee married while she was away and started a family. She and her husband Jeff have two children – Carter and Caylee.
