LG’s 2023 soundbars are Dolby Atmos- and wireless TV connection ready.

In keeping with its tradition of making multiple announcements before CESLG has teased the 2023 soundbar lineup in advance of the big show. According to the company, the SC9 model and SE6 models will both be displayed in Vegas. Both soundbars are equipped with Dolby Atmos or DTS:X for immersive audio. While details about the soundbars are still scarce, LG provided more information on key features.

First, the company says the SC9 and SE6 will have Wow Orchestra, a tool that “utilizes every one of the two products’ audio channels to create an expanded soundstage with improved height, depth and power.” This is a very vague description. However, LG explained that the feature would be available via software updates after launch. Both soundbars can also connect wirelessly to LG TVs via WiFi using Wowcast. After the soundbars are connected, you can access the audio settings via the Home Dashboard (a future update).

The Triple Sound Optimizer feature “boosts the performance of SE9 and SE6”, while Smart Up-mixer transforms stereo audio into surround sound. LG’s AI Room Calibration, which tailors each soundbar according to where they are placed, improves low-end frequency ranges, and subdivides the front channels for clearer vocals, better dialogue, and balances them. The SC9 and SE6 also have an AI Sound Pro feature that can analyze content — movies, games sports or music — and automatically apply the best settings.

LG claims the SC9, SE6 and SE6 have a minimalist design that will blend in with many home furnishings. The company explains that a bracket for the SC9 attaches to LG’s 2022 and 2023 OLED C series TVs to further eliminate clutter. LG did not elaborate on the differences between these units, except to say that the SE6 is ideal for smaller spaces due to its compact stature. The soundbar is smaller, but still has four passive radiators that provide “powerful bass,” LG claims. Dolby Atmos support remains onboard.

The company did not say whether either one of the speakers would come with a subwoofer, or which other speakers they would be compatible with to create a surround sound system.
