Kerstin Emhoff, the ex-wife of Doug Emhoff, was involved in the making of a touching short film about the second gentleman, which was shown at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night.

In an Instagram post shared on Tuesday, Kerstin Emhoff, a film and TV producer, shared that she produced the short film through her production company, Ventureland.

The film, “This is My Dad Doug,” is narrated by her son, Cole, whom she shares with her ex-husband.

Kerstin and Doug Emhoff divorced in 2008 after 16 years of marriage. Doug Emhoff wed Vice President Kamala Harris in 2014.

In addition to Cole, 29, Kerstin and Doug Emhoff also have a daughter, Ella, 25.

“Thank you to all that helped make this,” Kerstin Emhoff wrote about the short film in the caption of the post.

“This is My Dad Doug” features anecdotes about the second gentleman’s upbringing, as well as various photos and video clips capturing his life as a dad.

In the video, Cole also reflects on his parents’ divorce and his dad later marrying Harris.

“My parents split when I was in middle school and that wasn’t easy,” he says. “That’s not easy for any kid. But it helped that my parents stayed friends and we all kept hanging together.”

“And then he met Kamala,” he later continues. “The blind date that would dramatically change all of our lives forever. It was my senior year of high school — Ella and I would laugh watching them fall in love, acting like teenagers.”

“In 2014, Kamala became ‘Momala,’” he adds.

Kerstin Emhoff has been outspoken about her support for her ex-husband and  Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee.

Last month, she slammed conservatives who described Harris as “childless” as a line of attack. The vice president has faced scrutiny for not having biological children.

The producer told New York Times White House reporter Katie Rogers that they were “baseless attacks.”

“For over 10 years, since Cole and Ella were teenagers, Kamala has been a co-parent with Doug and I,“ she said. “She is loving, nurturing, fiercely protective, and always present. I love our blended family and am grateful to have her in it.”

Harris paid tribute to Kerstin Emhoff in an essay for Elle in 2019, writing that the producer is “an incredible mother.”

“Kerstin and I hit it off ourselves and are dear friends,” she wrote at the time, adding, “We sometimes joke that our modern family is almost a little too functional.”

On Wednesday, Kerstin Emhoff shared a photo on X, formerly Twitter, that appeared to show filmmaker Spike Lee leaving the DNC the night before holding a sign with Doug Emhoff’s first name printed on it.

“So surreal,” she wrote. “Someone sent me this pic so I have no photo credit. But Doug will love [Spike Lee] keeping his sign.”
