Conte doesn’t seem to be bothered by Kane’s mental state after the World Cup penalty pain

Antonio Conte, Tottenham Hotspur manager, insists Harry Kane will be at his best when he returns to Premier League action after his World Cup heartbreak.

England’s quarterfinal defeat to France was marked by Kane’s late penalty against Spurs teammate Hugo Lloris.

Conte believes that Conte’s star player will put the disappointment behind him and return to club duty. Monday’s clash with London rivals Brentford is Conte’s first match.

Conte said to reporters that he was not concerned because he is a world-class striker.

“Football can offer exciting moments, as well as moments where you’re disappointed that you missed a second goal. The first time he scored.

“I’m not concerned about him. In these two days, I saw him very well.”

Tottenham currently sit fourth in the table, eight points behind leaders Arsenal. They have played one more game than their bitter rivals from north London.

Conte’s contract expires after the season ends, but Spurs can extend it for up to 12 months.

Conte stated that he would prefer not to discuss this issue in the press conference in the future because he believes it is more important to the game being played.

“In this instance Brentford, but I can tell you that I am happy at the club, to be here, and have a great relationship with the club.

“We communicate every day and seek to find the best solution in every situation, but we only have six months to be together and to enjoy the situation until we find the best solution. But, I’m really happy here.”

Spurs will not have Argentina’s World Cup-winning Defender Cristian Romero at Brentford. Lloris is only listed on the bench, if he is.
