Indianapolis turns down NFL’s request to host AFC Championship Game if needed

The Indianapolis Business Journal According to reports, the city declined the NFL’s request to host the AFC Championship Game. It is not known whether Indianapolis was the NFL’s first choice or one of several possibilities.
Indianapolis has a conflict with Indy Convention Center booked. Lucas Oil Stadium will host a national volleyball tournament that is expected to attract as many as 30,000. This weekend, the city’s peak hotel room occupancy is over 7,000 rooms.
The league had asked Colts executives earlier this week about hosting the game either on Jan. 28th or 29th, per the report.
