The Nittany Lions are facing a formidable opponent after Utah won its second straight Pac-12 title. entering the game as a favorite in Pasadena.
Despite each team missing key players, the ingredients for a physical matchup with smashmouth football to close out the season are still there. Utah and Penn State are both looking for their 11th win of this season. How better to celebrate than in a shower full of rose petals!

Utah and Penn State will both be without some high-profile players who opted out from the bowl season to concentrate on their NFL futures. Joey Porter Jr., Penn State’s cornerback, will not be there. It will be up to Penn State to make sure the Big Ten doesn’t go without a single win in the New Year’s Six bowls this season, and a winning record for the conference could potentially come down to Penn State’s result in the Rose Bowl.
Mississippi State will play Illinois in the ReliaQuest bowl at noon Eastern, while Illinois will face Mississippi State at noon Eastern. Purdue will take on LSU at 1:00 in the Citrus Bowl. ET. Both Purdue and Illinois are underdogs at their respective bowl games. A loss in any of these games would lower the Big Ten record to 4-4 heading into Rose Bowl.
