Holiday chill

CHRISTMAS CHILL

On Saturday, cold winds will blow northeast to southwest across Cape Cod and Islands. This will cause waves of ocean effect snow. We’ve already seen more than half a foot of snow across parts of Martha’s Vineyard. We could see another 1-3″ there, which is why a Winter Storm Warning is still in place for Martha’s Vineyard and a Winter Weather Advisory for Nantucket through 1 PM Sunday.

We woke up to the coldest temperatures so far this season, and we aren’t going to warm up much for the rest of the holiday weekend.

It will be cold when Santa arrives tonight, temperatures drop back to the teens through early Sunday — nothing Santa isn’t used to though at the North Pole!

Christmas Day will be bright and sunny. The high temperatures will not reach 30 degrees after a cold start for the teens. Another day in the freezer. Bundle up for church services or if you are heading to a relative’s house. Merry Christmas!

Next Week

If you are off for school vacation, it’s going to be a quiet week in the weather department. The morning lows will remain in the teens and twentys. By Wednesday, the highs will slowly climb back up to the upper 30s. It will warm up in the 50s by Friday, late in the week. Our next chance for rain will be on New Year’s Day.
