More than 18% of U.S. caseloads are accounted for by COVID variant XBB

Dec 23, 2009 (Reuters) – The Omicron subvariant XBB accounted for 18.3% COVID-19 cases in the United States for week ending Dec. 24, an increase of 11.2% from the previous week.

The XBB variant has been causing an increase in cases in Asia, including Singapore. Some experts believe it is more transmissible, but less severe. (Reporting by Khushi Mandowara in Bengaluru; Editing by Shounak Dasgupta)
