In an email, Friday’s Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy stated that the 3 gigawatts of electricity installed between January and Sept of this year was enough to cook 1 Billion pigs in blankets in an oven or 3 Million turkeys, and provide a bird for every household of Scotland.

The UK considers a growth in renewable energy generation an important policy, given the current energy crisis in Europe as well as the looming climate catastrophe. The next few years will see more low-carbon power generation, including offshore wind farms and the Sizewell C nucleus project.

According to the department the power generated by the three new offshore windfarms, and the 95,000 solar panels that were installed this year, is enough electricity to power all the Christmas lights in the Midlands and every television in the world.
