Chinese farmer saves hundreds of newborn goats with AI

One man, who used to work in Shanghai’s finance industry, now uses artificial Intelligence (AI) in order to lower the rate of goats giving life.

Huang Zhen, a 39-year-old graduate of Shanghai’s East China University of Political Science and Law, bought 50 acres of land He realized that he did not want to be in the financial industry and decided to go to Chongming Island, Shanghai.

Huang began to grow organic plants on his new farm with his parents. This was something that he learned from his parents and through talking to other farmers.

Huang started to expand his farm by adding livestock like Chongming White goats in 2015. After that, he incorporated. new AI system Meituan, a food delivery service, co-developed the project and installed more than 50 high-definition cameras all around the farm to monitor the animals.

With the New system and camerasHuang was able use the 98% accuracy of the system to monitor the farm’s goats and spot any problems that could potentially harm them.

Huang has reportedly managed to reduce the mortality rate of his farm’s newborn goats, which used to be as high as 4% to 6% and even reached 10% in the winter.

The farm currently boasts 2,000 core breeding goats. With the technology we can save about 600 baby goats a year,” Huang said.
