After losing to Buccaneers in the Draft, Cardinals are moved up

The Arizona Cardinals are making a move up in the draft. If you look more towards the future, this is a positive thing. It can be detrimental to the results of this season.

After the Cardinals’ 19-16 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday and the Los Angeles Rams’ 51-14 win over the Denver Broncos, the Cardinals are now fourth in the 2023 NFL draft order, according to Tankathon.

Below are the top 10 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft order, after Week 16.

  1. Houston Texans 2-12-1

  2. Chicago Bears, 3-12

  3. Denver Broncos (traded with Seahawks), 4-11

  4. Arizona Cardinals, 4-11

  5. Indianapolis Colts, 4-10-1

  6. Atlanta Falcons 5-10

  7. Los Angeles Rams (traded for Lions), 5-10

  8. Carolina Panthers, 6-9

  9. Las Vegas Raiders 6-9

  10. New Orleans Saints (traded To Eagles), 6-9

Despite having the same record, the Broncos still have a lead over the Cardinals. This is because they won a head to head win. The tiebreaker in the draft was strength of schedule.

The Cardinals’ strength of schedule is .522. The Broncos’ is .490.

It works this way in draft: If you have the exact same record but a weaker Schedule, you are the weaker Team and need the better draft spot.

What kind of player could the Cardinals draft the fourth overall pick?

Here are the four remaining players.

  • 2022: Jets Sauce Gardner

  • 2021: Falcons TE Kyle Pitts

  • 2020: Giants OT Andrew Thomas

  • 2019: Raiders de Clelin Ferrell

  • 2018: Browns CB Denzel Ward
