Barbara Walters, Trailblazing Journalist, Dies at 93

Barbara Walters, the legendary broadcast journalist and television personality, has died.

ABC First reported the news.

She was 93. There was no immediate cause of her death.

Walters’ media career spanned five decades.

When she became the first woman anchor on an evening news show of ABC News in 1976, she made waves.

She broke through the glass ceiling of a male-dominated field, and went on to be co-host of 20/20 Launching The View In 1997. In 2014, she was no longer the co-host of the controversial talk program. However, she continued to serve in executive producer.

She won 12 Emmys over her long career, 11 of them during her tenure at ABC News.
