Al Ittihad offering €12-13 million salary to sign Real Madrid defender – report
Clubs from Saudi Arabia continue to make big moves to sign players from top European clubs once again this summer.
Continuing the trend, Al Ittihad, who signed Karim Benzema from Real Madrid last year, have set their sights on another player from the Spanish capital club this summer.
Indeed, according to journalist Marcos Benito of El Chiringuito TV, Al Ittihad are seriously interested in signing Antonio Rudiger from Real Madrid this summer.
In order to secure the German international’s services, the Saudi Arabian club are willing to offer him a salary package worth around €12-13 million per season.
Rudiger has been with Real Madrid for two seasons now and has established himself as an integral player in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup.
The 31-year-old was one of the Merengues’ top performers in the season gone by, stepping up in the injury-enforced absence of players like Eder Militao and David Alaba.
Rudiger is now seen as a permanent fixture in the defensive line at Real Madrid and there is little to no chance that the club would consider offloading him, especially having lost Nacho Fernandez and Rafa Marin this summer, while missing out on Leny Yoro.
Rudiger still has two years left on his contract at Real Madrid and has shown no indications of wanting to leave either.
As such, despite the lucrative contract proposal from Al Ittihad, an exit is unlikely to materialise this summer and the German international is expected to stay at the club and start the season as the first-choice centre-back alongside Eder Militao.
