AMD’s Ryzen-7000 mobile CPUs are up to 16 cores with 5.4GHz speeds

AMD has some big guns for you to use Intel’s powerful HX laptop CPUsThese are often referred to as “HX” again. With 16 cores and 32 threads, the company’s Ryzen 9 7945HX mobile processor is their most premium offering. It also has speeds of 2.5GHz to 5.4GHz. The new Ryzen 9 7945HX processor is joined by a range of Ryzen 7000 CPUs, which were also unveiled at CES. AMD was also announced low-end chipsIn September), which will power everything, from budget laptops to extreme gaming or creator machines. What is the big takeaway for this year? Ryzen laptop chips will cover almost every need.

AMD is focusing on its HX chips more this year, which makes sense. Intel’s high-powered lineup was unveiled last year. This week, it announced that there will be more HX processors in the future, including the 24-core I9-13980HX. Intel uses a hybrid design that combines Performance cores with efficient cores. Although Intel has a higher core count, it may still perform similarly to AMD’s chips, which use full-speed cores.

Ryzen HX CPUs are designed to run at 55-watts (also like Intel) and will focus more on power than battery life. AMD claims that the 7945HX is 78% faster than the Ryzen 6900HX, its top-end Ryzen CPU, in Cinebench’s multithreaded benchmark and 18% faster in single threaded tests. The 7945HX is 179% faster than the Intel 12900HX, last year’s high-end chip. Blender rendering is 75 percent faster than the 12900HX. You will see the 7945HX in the top gaming laptops, such as the Alienware m16 and m18As well as the latest ASUS ROG Strix.

The new Ryzen 7040HS series chips offer a better balance of size and power. They range between 35W to 45W. AMD claims these chips are designed for thin enthusiasts. They will be in laptops by March. This is the Ryzen 9 7940HS, which features 8 cores, 16 threads, and speeds up to 5.2GHz boost speeds.

Ryzen AI, an integrated AI platform, will be included in the 7040 chips. It can handle tasks such as creating background blurs for video calls and sorting through your photo collection. AMD claims Ryzen AI can multitask up 4 AI workloads, or combine them on one task. Additionally, it is reportedly 50% more efficient than Apple’s M2. Intel is also planning to introduce a VPU AI accelerator in some of its 13th-gen chips — previously, we’ve only seen these accelerators on ARM chips, like the Microsoft SQ3 on the Surface Pro 9.

AMD offers the U-series Ryzen 7030, 7035 and 7035 lineups of ultraportables. These range in power from 15W to 35W. These include the Ryzen 3 7330U, which has 6 cores and 12 threads, as well as the Ryzen 7 77330U, which has 8 cores/16 threads. Ryzen 37335U, a quad core chip, can consume almost twice the power as the 7330U.
