Celtic center Luke Harangody is born; Wallace-Hoefer trade
This day marks the birth of big man Luke Cameron Harangody, who was born in Decatur in Illinois in 1988. Harangody would play his college ball with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish men’s basketball team, where he won three consecutive Second Team All-American honors between 2008 and 2010, winning Big East Player of the Year in 2008.
Harangody, the 52nd pick of the Celtics during the 2010 NBA Draft, signed a two year deal with the team in august of that same year. The native Illinois player would make his debut against Detroit Pistons in November 2010. He played 49 games for the team which drafted him.
Harangody was then sold to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Semih Erden, center, and draft assets.

It is also the date of the trade that sent Celtic guard Michael John “Red” Wallace to the (now defunct) Toronto Huskies for guard Charlie Hoefer.
Wallace had signed up for the Celtics in 1946-47 before there was a draft.
Over a period of two seasons, Wallace participated in 85 contests with Boston, scoring an average of 5.5 points per match.

Hoefer also spent parts of two seasons playing with the Celtics. However, he played only 42 games, in which he averaged 5.3 points per match.
