Celebrities pay tribute to Vivienne Westwood, the late fashion designer.

Celebrities and fashion industry tastemakers will always remember the legendary English designer and activist. Dame Vivienne WestwoodWho is it? died Thursday. She was 81.

According to a statement Westwood, who was released by the label via Instagram, died peacefully surrounded by his family and friends in Clapham. An official cause of death wasn’t immediately available.

“Vivienne kept doing the things she loved up to the end, including designing, writing, and art. Her life was extraordinary. The label announced that her innovation and impact over the past 60 years was immense.

“Vivienne is needed in the world to make a difference for the better,” concluded the label.

Westwood is a fashion icon who has revolutionized fashion, particularly in London in the mid-1970s. Many stars, stylists, models and designers have benefited from Westwood’s influence.
