Margaret Qualley has Jack Antonoff to thank for her next role in Happy Gilmore 2!

While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Tuesday, Sept. 24, the Substance actress admitted that her husband fibbed to help her secure her part in the upcoming sequel alongside Adam Sandler.

A self-confessed “mega fan” of Sandler, Qualley, 29, told host Jimmy Fallon, “I saw that there was gonna to be a Happy Gilmore 2 and I emailed my agents right away and I said, ‘Anything it takes — so part is too small. Please. I gotta be a part of this, I’m begging you. Please. Whatever it takes.’ “

Fallon, 50, explained to the audience that Sandler, 58, then texted Antonoff, 40, and asked him if Qualley golfs at all, referring to the sport played in the film — to which the music producer replied, “ ‘Yeah, she’s actually good!’ “

Reading out their text exchange on the show, Fallon shared a follow-up question Antonoff asked Sandler — ‘ “We talking Gilmore or charity golf tournament?’ ” — to which the actor and comedian replied, ” ‘Gilmore, might have to bug her for a couple of days funny thing. She’d be awesome.’ “

Qualley admitted that her husband “lied for the sake of the family,” telling Fallon, “I’ve never golfed a day in my life. I’m terrible, actually.”

“So what did you do? How did you skate your way thorough?” He asked.

“I went out to the barn and I hit some balls with the woman who runs the barn — her partner used to golf,” Qualley said, laughing. “That’s where I started. … I took some lessons, but mostly I’m still bad.”
