Norman Powell and Kawhi Leonard, former Toronto Raptors players, returned to Scotiabank Arena Tuesday to lead the Los Angeles Clippers in a 124-113 win.

Leonard hasn’t forgotten Toronto’s harsh winters in the three years since he moved to Los Angeles as free agency. He was cool in a shiny parka when he returned to his old home.

Before tip-off, the pair met up with former teammates and Raptors staff members. This provided fans with lots of good content on social media.

Leonard was given a warm, but more subdued welcome. first time back in Toronto) when his name was announced during the introduction of the Clippers’ starting lineup.

Powell was, however, welcomed back by the Raptors faithful in a touching tribute video and loud applause as they celebrated the return of the guard to Toronto. He was traded to Portland Trail Blazers in February 2021.

Powell scored 22 points from the bench on Tuesday to lead the Clippers to victory over his former team. Leonard’s performance was more timid. He scored 15 points, had eight assists and grabbed seven rebounds. Paul George, the Superstar Teammate, was Los Angeles’ top scorer with 23 points. Paul also hit five three pointers and scored five more. Ivica Zubac, the center, led the way with 23 points.

Pascal Siakam led the Raptors once more with 36 points. He shot 13-for-24 and converted 10 free throws. Gary Trent Jr. provided the scoring from the bench with 20 points. Scottie Barton impressed with 17 point, 13 rebounds, and eight assists in only 35 minutes. Fred VanVleet managed just four points, shooting 2-for-6 from the field.

As is the case with most of this season’s stories, the Raptors were unable to hit the ball from deep. They managed only six of their 23 attempts. The Clippers, however, shot 40 percent.

Toronto will be looking to bounce back on Thursday when they host the Memphis Grizzlies.
