Russia tells UN shipping agency safety guarantees will be revoked with end of grain deal -letter

UNITED NATIONS, July 17 (Reuters) – Russia’s withdrawal from a deal allowing the safe Black Sea export of Ukraine grain means “the guarantees for the safety of navigation issued by the Russian side will be revoked,” Russia told the U.N. shipping agency the International Maritime Organization (IMO), according to an excerpt from the letter seen by Reuters.

It also said “proactive necessary actions and response measures to neutralize threats posed by the Kiev regime in the area will be taken, considering the continued armed provocations thereby and attempts to attack Russian military and civilian obiects.” (Reporting by Michelle Nichols)
