China to eliminate COVID-19 Quarantine for Incoming Passenger

BEIJING (AP) — China will drop a COVID-19 quarantine requirement for passengers arriving from abroad starting Jan. 8, the National Health Commission announced Monday in the latest easing of the country’s once-strict virus-control measures.

At the moment, passengers arriving at airports must quarantine for five nights at a hotel and then three days at home. This is an improvement on the previous three-week wait.

According to an online post by the health commissioner, people who travel to China will need to have a negative virus test at least 48 hours before they leave. Passengers must also wear protective masks while onboard.
