Big Ten football recruiting reveals clear division between East & West

This is USC’s reality: We must pay close attention to Big Ten football recruitment. It’s just a fact of life: The players being recruited for the Class of 2023 in the Big Ten Conference will play USC for a majority of their careers. They get a freshman season in which they won’t play the Trojans in the regular season, but in 2024, it’s go time.

What’s the Big Ten’s football recruiting landscape? Buckeyes Wire’s friends have provided some rankings of recruiting at the beginning of the early sign-up period. One by one, we’ll deal with the stories attached to these rankings.

Here’s one story of note: The Big Ten East Division is absolutely crushing the Big Ten West Division.

Four of the top four teams in the Big Ten (14 members) are from the East. Contrary to this, the Big Ten West boasts five of the worst recruiting teams in the current cycle.

Michigan State joins Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan as the top four.

Indiana and Rutgers are the only East Division teams that were in the bottom 7 (lower half) of Big Ten. Maryland came in sixth place, ahead of Iowa.

The East is a beast, the West fails the test.
