Lamborghini is used by police to transport two kidneys for transplant patients hundreds of miles away

Two critically ill patients were in need of kidney transplants and the Lamborghini was used by Italian police to speed through Italy. The supercar raced at 145 mph from Padua, Italy, to Rome, covering approximately 300 miles. It completed the crucial task in under two hours.

The luxury carmaker donated the vehicle, valued at $150,000 to the police force for these urgent missions. You can read on to find out what happened to the emergency transport and how it was triggered by the incident with the so-called patrol car.

A 5-Hour Trip in 2

Google Maps estimated that this trip would take at most five hours in normal conditions.

In 2017, Lamborghini Huracan, a luxury carmaker, gifted it to the police. The Huracan has a top speed in excess of 190 mph. It is used to patrol traffic and transfer organs. Another Huracan is being operated by the Rome highway patrol, while a 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo used by police is now in a museum.

Defibrillators On Board

Regularly, police officers are called upon to deliver organs and medical supplies. These cars can respond to cardiac emergencies and have defibrillators. One donor kidney recipient, who was suffering with cancer, claimed that police raced the organ across Italy just in time for him to save his life in 2020.

There are the occasional mishaps

Like us all, police don’t always keep cool behind the wheel. Some mishaps have occurred with Lamborghinis official, including one incident in 2009 when an officer crashed into a row parked cars after giving a lecture on road safety.

According to reports, the officer turned around to avoid a slow driver that had pulled out from a gas station without stopping. The Lamborghini crashed into the cars, causing one to crash onto the roof of the police car.
