Amazon Web Services contract awarded by the U.S. Navy for more than $700 million

(Reuters) – The United States Navy awarded Amazon.com Inc.’s cloud computing division a $723.9 Million enterprise software license agreement worth five years on Monday.

The Navy will have access to Amazon Web Services (AWS), its commercial cloud environment, Professional Services, and its training and certification courses.

In the Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability contract, the Pentagon gave cloud computing contracts to Alphabet Inc’s Google and AWS as well as Microsoft Corp and Oracle Corp.

According to the Pentagon work will be done for no less than five years, starting in December of this year and ending in February 2028.
