Police, Coroner Investigating Brittany Murphy’s Death

Los Angeles police are looking into Brittany Murphy’s sudden death at age 32, and the coroner’s office will conduct an autopsy as part of its own investigation.

Paramedics responded to an emergency call to the Clueless star’s home in the hills above West Hollywood at about 8 a.m. Sunday. She was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 10:04 a.m.

Detectives later arrived at her house in what a police spokesman called a “routine” action.

Murphy’s body was released by the hospital to the Los Angeles coroner, which has begun an investigation that will include an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
