Gibson Puts in his last day at ABC

Charlie Gibson retired Friday from the “World News” anchor desk after working for ABC for 34 years.

In 1975 Gibson joined ABC News, where he was named White House correspondent a year later. After numerous other assignments, he began a long stretch as co-anchor of “Good Morning America” in 1987, then left in 1998 to serve as a co-anchor of the “Primetime Thursday” newsmagazine for six years.

In 1999, less than a year after exiting “GMA,” Gibson was summoned back for a seven-year stint.Diane Sawyer will replace him Monday at the “World News” anchor desk.

JOn, Kate officially over

Jon and Kate Gosselin officially divorced Friday after 10 years of marriage, eight children and a year of tabloid headlines.

Kate Gosselin gets the family home in eastern Pennsylvania in the no-fault divorce agreement, according to her lawyer, Mark Momjian. She will also continue as the primary caretaker of the reality TV couple’s 9-year-old twins and 5-year-old sextuplets.

Jon Gosselin’s lawyer, Mark Jay Heller, was traveling Friday and not available for comment, a spokesman said. The divorce agreement was first reported by TMZ.com.

The Gosselins filed for divorce in June, the same month they told viewers of TLC’s “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ about the split in an episode seen by more than 10 million people.

Beyonce’s folks split

Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, has filed for divorce from the pop diva’s father and manager, Mathew Knowles.

Tina Knowles began legal proceedings Nov. 11, according to documents filed with the Harris County Court Clerk.

“The decision to end our marriage is an amicable one. We remain friends, parents, and business partners,” the couple said in a statement Friday.

The divorce filing came about a month after Mathew Knowles was named in a paternity suit. A Los Angeles woman, Alexsandra Wright, claims in the lawsuit that she is pregnant and that Mathew Knowles is the father.

Tina and Mathew Knowles married in 1980.
