Nenad Krstic Jailed Overnight Following FIBA Fracas

http://www.blogcdn.com/nba.fanhouse.com/media/2010/08/krstic-tz-307-1282308295.jpgOklahoma City Thunder center Nenad Krstic was detained by Greek authorities overnight following a bloody fight during a FIBA game between Krstic’s Serbia and Greece in Athens Thursday. Reuters reports that Krstic was released by Greek police Friday morning, though he faces misdemeanor-level “sports violence” charges which will likely carry a fine.

Krstic threw a chair during Thursday’s fourth-quarter fight at Olympic Indoor Hall. It was apparently meant for Greek center Sofoklis Schortsanitis, but instead hit Greek big man Ioannis Bourousis, who hadn’t played in the game. The blow drew blood, and Bourousis had to be stopped from going after Krstic.

Krstic was also involved in the start of the fight, which sparked when Serb guard Milos Teodosic and Greek center Antonis Fotsis began jawing at each other with less than three minutes left in the game. Both teams are preparing for the 2010 FIBA World Championship, to be held in Turkey beginning August 28.

Alberto Aquilani Could Leave Liverpool On Loan

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has revealed that midfielder Alberto Aquilani could return to Italy on loan at an as yet undisclosed club.

Aquilani was absent from the Liverpool squad for their 1-0 Europa League victory over Trabsonspor at Anfield on Thursday night and afterwards Hodgson confirmed via the club’s official website liverpoolfc.tv that the player may be set to leave to guarantee first team football and preserve his value.

The former Roma midfielder joined the Reds in a €20 million move last summer as a replacement for Xabi Alonso but after spending much of the season overcoming injury, he failed to make a telling impact on Merseyside and Hodgson has acknowledged that he is not guaranteed regular football at Anfield this season so a loan move may be in the 26-year-old’s best interests.

Review the Lafangey Parindey is a tribute to Mumbai’s spirit

After churning out trash like Tashan, Pyaar Impossible, Dil Bole Hadippa and Badmaash Company in the recent past, Yash Raj Films finally seems to have got it right. Lafangey Parindey packs all the right punches, just like its rough-and-tough hero, biker/boxer Nandu (Neil).

Set in a Mumbai chawl, Lafangey Parindey drives on a cliched storyline with Nandu and blind Pinky Palkar (Padukone) at its helm. Nandu has taken upon himself (and his gang of tapori friends) to put back on track Pinky’s life and her goals. Pinky, you see, has been blinded in a freak accident.

The story of an urban, lower-middle-class girl trying to make it big in life is not entirely original. But the punch and energy pumped in by the lead pair makes it look like will and human spirit got a new package, with the ribbon of determination on it.
